Waiver Policy

Journal of Plant Biota is committed to supporting researchers from diverse backgrounds and institutions. In recognition of the financial challenges that some authors may face, we offer a waiver policy to assist those who may not have access to funding for publication fees.
Eligibility for Waivers

1. Authors from Low- and Middle-Income Countries: Authors based in countries classified as low- and middle-income by the World Bank may be eligible for a waiver or reduction in publication fees.
2. Exceptional Circumstances: Waivers may be granted in cases of financial hardship or exceptional circumstances that affect the author’s ability to pay the publication fees.
3. Early Career Researchers: Early career researchers, including PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, may apply for waivers if they can demonstrate that they are unable to cover the publication fees.

Application Process
1. Request for Waiver: Authors wishing to apply for a waiver must submit a formal request at the time of manuscript submission or shortly thereafter. This request should include a brief explanation of the financial hardship or exceptional circumstances and any relevant documentation.
2. Review of Request: Each waiver request will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the editorial office. The decision will be communicated to the corresponding author as soon as possible.
3. Documentation: Authors may be required to provide supporting documentation to substantiate their request for a fee waiver.
Waiver Approval
Partial Waivers: In some cases, a partial waiver of the publication fee may be granted if a full waiver is not deemed necessary.
Non-Eligibility: Authors who do not meet the criteria or who fail to provide adequate documentation for their request may be required to pay the full publication fee.
